How to Make Your Book Cover Stand Out in a Saturated Market
Forget about "Plain Jane" marketing if you want to be successful
So you’ve written a book, or are in the process of writing a book, or thinking about writing a book.
The fact is most serious writers fall into one of those three categories. But the thinking, doing, and finishing are really only the beginning.
Consider the idea (and reality) of writing a book as a type of “family planning” — an extension of who you are, what you hope to produce, and how you can give it the best chances for success.
As writers, we don’t take the process lightly.
There are many considerations involved, like having enough motivation to finish what we start, the underestimated time commitments, and the mental fortitude to stay with it until the project is done.
If you’re realistic and persistent, eventually, you’ll be typing those final words on the page: The End
So now what? How do you present your book to a waiting, ready, and anxious audience?
First, a reality check. Yes, there are likely readers out there who will find your finished product interesting, entertaining, amusing, or helpful. The question is whether they’ll they be attracted to what you have to offer.
It’s time to get serious about your book’s appeal.
Think of this aspect of marketing as “dressing up” your literary baby to pique curiosity, draw attention, and show an audience that — as the author — you cared enough to go to market in your Sunday best.
Here are a few photo examples I’ve created with a fantastic book cover advertising source called Mockup Shots (affiliate link).
The company offers photos, GIF’s, and short videos featuring your book cover in a variety of backgrounds and settings.
In a few words, I think their product is really cool!
Take a look here, and if you’d like to ignite your current or upcoming book marketing campaign by incorporating their mockups, I’d be grateful if you used my affiliate link.
Because we’re all in this together, and if you’re like me, we truly appreciate the support of our peers.
